Osteopathy for Babies & Children

The distance a baby travels in birth is little more than the length of the baby itself. But the twisting and turning subjects the baby to enormous forces as it squeezes through the resistances of the birth canal and pelvis. The baby’s head has an exceptional ability to adapt to these stresses: to reduce the head size bones overlap, bend and twist to accommodate the movements. But the position of the baby’s head and neck at the onset of labour are not always optimal for the best delivery. This can result in some babies being born with odd-shaped heads. Fortunately, during the first few days the head usually returns to its usual shape as the baby yawns, cries and suckles. However, in cases of extremely quick or long and difficult births, the unmoulding process is often incomplete. As a result the baby may have to live with strains within its body, head and neck. We can help to treat the symptoms resulting from these strains.

In the vast majority of cases, a few visits to our paediatric osteopath in Cheltenham will enable the baby’s inherent healing ability to release the strains. The younger the baby is treated, the easier and more profound the benefits can be, however any body, of any age , can benefit from osteopathy.

Karl J Turner BSc (HONS) Ost Med

Karl J Turner BSc (HONS) Ost Med Qualified in 1997 as an Osteopath/Cranial osteopath, prior to which he worked as an auxillary nurse. He studied osteopathic medicine, which means he is trained to use osteopathy to treat chest, ear and throat infections and difficulties with breathing and digestion as well as aches, pains and injuries.

Karl became an osteopath after a life changing experience that was transformed by an osteopath. At the age of 15 Karl was hit by a lorry as he stood waiting for the school bus and as a result of the multiple fractures injuries, he was confined to a wheelchair and crutches. Searching for remedies Karl stumbled on an osteopath from a recommendation even though at 15 he had no idea what one was. The osteopath offered 3 options for treatment , 1) the gentle & painless but very slow & therefore costly way , 2) the drastic & rapid result but potentially painful way which is therefore the least costly way , or 3) a personalised comprimise between 1) and 2) . as a 15 year old previously very active youngster he chose the rapid result way and after a thorough treatment and a few yelps the osteopath helped him onto his feet and suggested he took a few steps unaided. Karl was mesmerised and immediately decided Osteopathy was the job for him. As his training began it was soon clear that his passion to learn the skills to help others as he’s been helped, soon stood out above others and that this chosen path was as much of a calling as it was a career.

As karl has matured with his skills he has realised that as much as he does everything he can to help people drastically return to healthy, painless, wellness as quickly as possible , one single treatment can only relieve a portion of the problem(s) that has ended up causing the symptom(s). Often one treatment can result in complete relief short term. However it will take a few treatments to undo all the strain , the injury , the inflammation, the compensations to the problem and the habits linked to the problem etc. Karl has reached a point in his career where he can honestly say that, in most cases, it will take a succession of treatments to fully restore optimum balanced function to give his patient’s a sustained period free of any symptom and ultimatley health and wellness. For people commited to this step by step road to wellness there is a discount.

for 6 treatments £250 which is £41.60 a treatment
for 3 treatments £135 which is £45 a treatment
for 1 treatment £50

this is a loyalty offer with no implied schedule – and in no way an attempt to suggest you opt for frequent and unnecessary treatments
